Lawyer Dong Xiaosong graduated from the Law School of Jilin University with a Doctor of Laws degree. He is the Chairman of the Partners' Meeting and Director of the Criminal Law Committee at Zhonglun W&D (Kunming) Law Firm; Director of the Criminal Law Teaching and Research Office and Director of the Criminal Defense Research Center at the Law School of Yunnan University; Master's Supervisor; Vice Chairman of the Criminal Committee of the Yunnan Provincial Lawyers Association; and also serves as a legal advisor to the Yunnan Provincial Public Security Department and a member of the Expert Advisory Committee of the Yunnan Provincial People's Procuratorate.

 

His practice focuses on criminal defense. He is renowned in the industry for his expertise in resolving complex and difficult criminal legal issues and handling unexpected crises. He is particularly skilled in defending clients in major and complex cases involving official misconduct, economic crimes, and drug offenses. He previously served as the defense attorney for Bai Suocheng, the former chairman of the Kokang Self-Administered Zone in Myanmar, representing one of the "Four Major Families" in northern Myanmar. He has represented clients in numerous high-profile criminal cases both domestically and internationally, assisting judicial authorities in achieving acquittals, appeals, or exemption from the death penalty in dozens of major and complex criminal cases.


Working Experience

Currently serves as the Chairman of the Partners' Meeting and Director of the Criminal Law Committee at Zhonglun W&D (Kunming) Law Firm.

Since 2008, has been teaching at the Law School of Yunnan University, currently serving as the Director of the Criminal Law Teaching and Research Section, Director of the Criminal Defense Research Center, and Master's Supervisor.

Since beginning his legal practice in 2006, has worked at Beijing Dayu Law Firm, Yunnan Tianwaitian Law Firm, and Beijing Yingke (Kunming) Law Firm, consistently serving as the Director of the Criminal Law Committee at his respective firms.

Honors

The series of telecom fraud cases involving the "Four Major Families" in northern Myanmar, which he represented, was selected as the top case in the "Top Ten Cases Promoting the Rule of Law in the New Era in 2025" jointly organized by the Supreme People's Court and China Media Group, and was also included in the 2025 work reports of the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate. In this case, lawyer Dong Xiaosong served as the defense attorney for Bai Suocheng, the former chairman of the Kokang Self-Administered Zone and head of the "Four Major Families" in northern Myanmar.
